The SGH Warsaw School of Economics has once again joined Poland’s largest charity fundraiser – the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). Thanks to the involvement of the SGH authorities and our academic community, 14 unique auctions have been launched, with all proceeds going directly to the WOŚP account. The Independent Students’ Association of SGH (NZS SGH) has also prepared an attraction that has already become a hallmark of the WOŚP Grand Finale at SGH. Alpacas will appear in front of our university, and anyone who donates to a WOŚP collection box will have the chance to meet these delightful animals and take a photo with them.

The aim of the 34th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is to support the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in the youngest patients, under the slogan ‘Healthy tummies for our children’.

The funds raised will provide tangible support for approximately 1.2–1.5 million children suffering from gastroenterological conditions. Patients in this group struggle with ailments such as coeliac disease, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, gastro-oesophageal reflux, food allergies, and diseases of the pancreas or liver. Thanks to the fundraiser, it will be possible to purchase modern equipment whose use improves treatment outcomes.

For many years, the SGH Warsaw School of Economics has been actively involved in WOŚP initiatives. In 2025 alone, the auctions we organised generated support for the foundation totalling PLN 11,708. Continuing this tradition, we invite you to take part in this year’s auctions, which will be open until 29 January (until around midday). Thanks to the involvement of the university authorities and our academic community, bidders will have the chance to compete both for unique experiences and for physical items that will serve as a tangible memento of the support given.

We invite you to take a look at the descriptions of our auctions:

Traveller elephant figurine from the personal collection of the Rector of SGH and a photo album

The Rector of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Dr hab. Piotr Wachowiak, Professor at SGH, has been collecting elephant figurines for many years. For him, they are not only a passion but also a symbol of a persistent pursuit of goals and responsible leadership. In many cultures, the elephant symbolises strength, wisdom and perseverance – values that are also close to the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

The auctioned figurine accompanied the Rector of SGH on numerous journeys and at various events in 2025, including but not limited to: World Expo 2025 in Osaka, the AACSB international conference in Toronto, and the Economic Forum in Karpacz.

The auction also includes an album containing photographs from the travels of the Rector’s elephant. Some of the photographs were taken personally by the Rector of SGH, Piotr Wachowiak. The album was prepared exclusively in support of the 34th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. The winner of the auction will thus become the owner of the only copy of this unique publication.
