Research visit to IE University in Madrid as part of the CIVICA programme

Within the framework of short research visits under the CIVICA programme, dr hab. Aneta Kosztowniak, prof. SGH, of the Collegium of Management and Finance, took part in seminars and consultations at IE University, Madrid. Professor Kosztowniak visited the campus of the Business School affiliated with the University, located in Madrid’s financial district.
In the course of the two main seminars held during my four-day visit (19–22 May 2025), I presented the results of my research on climate transition in the banking sector of the EU, including Poland, and climate risk estimates in countries of the euro area. I also partook in a meeting with doctoral students, during which I held workshops concerning the topic in question.
Furthermore, during my research visit to IE University, I was also invited to seminars held by other, European, Canadian and American, professors. I attended the presentation of research results by, among others, Caroline Artega of the University of Toronto, as well as tutorials by Professor Marshall Ganz, Professor Rita E. Hauser Senior Lecturer of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Professor. Borja Santos, Dean of the IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs.
As a school of business and management, IE University also invites successful businesspeople. During my visit, I was able to attend one such meeting with Alessandro Benetton, Chairman of Edizione and Vice-Chairman of Mundys, who was promoting his autobiography, “The Power of Discontinuity in Life and Business.” Participants in this meeting included not only IE University lecturers, but also financial practitioners and students, for whom it was a valuable experience, motivating them to study business and plan their careers.
At IE University, which is ranked high among the higher education institutions in the world, I was able to exchange information about research methods used, as well as the scientific topics currently pursued by EU and non-EU researchers. I also established contacts with researchers from a few institutions and began talks on further visit plans and on cooperation in publishing. That is why I will be glad to take part in similar research visits in the future.
