A CEREMONIAL CLOSING OF THE XIV EDITION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP OLYMPIAD

The ceremony of awarding diplomas to the winners of the 14th Entrepreneurship Olympiad took place on 28 May at the Presidential Palace. The motto of this year's edition was ‘Trends in the capital market.’ This year's winner of the Olympiad was Agata Książek, a student of the second grade of Public High School No II in Opole. The winners and their tutors were granted their diplomas by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, the rector of the Warsaw School of Economics prof. Marek Rocki and prof. Maria Romanowska, chairwoman of the Scientific Subcommittee of the Entrepreneurship Olympiad.

- The participation in the Olympiad gave me a lot of joy and satisfaction. I learned what I would like to do in my life and I thank you for providing me with this opportunity - summarised the winner, Agata Książek.

President Andrzej Duda underlined that the Entrepreneurship Olympiad is in a sense a business incubator when it comes to knowledge, encouraging young people to learn about various topics related to economics or capital markets, as in the 14th Entrepreneurship Olympiad. He praised the skills, hard work and perseverance of the Olympiad’s participants, and also congratulated their teachers and the authors of the Olympiad.

- I hope that young people will contribute to the future development of the Polish business; we really need young talented entrepreneurs - he addressed the participants of the ceremony. - Thank you for this great effort, and thank you professors and school principals [...] for providing students with your care, enabling them to reach so high in this extremely difficult Olympiad. I would like to thank all the organisers of the Olympiad [...], because it is indeed a great work that is simply very important.

- Our goal is to promote economic knowledge among young people that builds the foundation for the Polish economy development - said the SGH rector.

Professor Piotr Wachowiak, chairman of the Entrepreneurship Council to the President of the Republic of Poland and SGH vice-rector for science and management - this time acting as the secretary of the Olympiad scientific subcommittee - presented the slogan of the next edition. It will be ‘Diversity Management in an Organisation: culture, employee, structure.’

In addition, during the ceremony, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded state decorations for merits in the development of economic education - Gold Cross of Merit was awarded to Dr Marcin Dąbrowski, the Chancellor of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, co-organiser of the Entrepreneurship Olympiad and the Children’s University of Economics and the Academy of the Young Economist, the president of the Association of Children's Universities, whereas the Silver Cross of Merit was awarded to Bartosz Majewski, the director of the SGH Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, the secretary of the Central Committee of the Entrepreneurship Olympiad and the Regional Committee of the Entrepreneurship Olympiad in Warsaw, a lecturer at the Children’s University of Economics and the Academy of the Young Economist, a member - founder of the Association of Children's Universities.

After the official part of the meeting, which was graced by the SGH Choir performance, the participants were invited to a traditional cake, a gala dinner, a tour of the palace and of course a selfie with the President of the Republic of Poland.

The Entrepreneurship Olympiad is an innovative social and pro-entrepreneurial project. It has been organised since 2005 and has the status of one of the largest subject Olympiads in the country. The Olympiads are co-organised by the five largest Polish economic universities: SGH Warsaw School of Economics and economic universities in Katowice, Cracow, Poznań and Wrocław. .
