Economic Freedom Day

THE VISIT OF THE AMBASSADOR OF THE UNITED STATES, GEORGETTE MOSBACHER, IN SGH WARSAW SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

‘It is an honour to be here’- these words began the speech of the US Ambassador Georgette Mosbacher, who on May 7 paid a visit to SGH Warsaw School of Economics. After the meeting with prof. Marek Rocki, SGH and university authorities, the Ambassador Mosbacher took part in the lecture by Kevin Hassett, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors to the President of the United States. ‘

During the speech in the main hall of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, which opened the meeting with Kevin Hassett, the US ambassador appreciated the Polish way to freedom and market economy: - The history of development, reform and growth of the Polish economy is the history of hard-won freedom [...]. Only thirty years ago, rulers, assisted by scholar advisers, rejected communism to take advantage of numerous opportunities brought by free market.

Georgette Mosbacher appreciated an opportunity to visit our university. - I want to thank SGH Warsaw School of Economics for organising this forum and, in particular, for celebrating economic freedom. I believe that economic freedom, freedom to develop your own business, to act without fear of corruption and to compete is the cornerstone of a democratic society.

It is a great honour for me to serve here in Poland as the US ambassador. You've done amazing work in your country - in just thirty years you have done more than any of your neighbours could do in this region. You've built a truly remarkable economy that continues to grow. Here at this university, you devote yourself to studying the principles of how such an economy works. I'm sure you will take it to the next level.
