Network of Diverse European Societies (NODES) has just launched the Future EU Leaders Mentorship Programme 2026, a selective mentorship initiative connecting highly motivated students with professionals working in European affairs, public policy, international organizations, public affairs, think tanks, and civil society.
The pilot edition of the programme will bring together a cohort of 12 mentors and 12 mentees from across Europe through a personalized one-to-one mentoring model designed to support educational and professional development.
The programme was established in response to the growing need for accessible pathways into careers related to European policymaking and international cooperation. By creating mentoring relationships between students and experienced professionals, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between education and professional practice.
"We noticed that many students interested in European affairs have limited opportunities to speak directly with professionals working in the field," said Jakub Mirkowski, creator and coordinator of the Future EU Leaders Mentorship Programme. "We created this programme to help bridge that gap by connecting students with professionals from across Europe and supporting them in making informed decisions about their educational and professional futures."
Participation in the programme is selective. Prospective mentees will be evaluated based on their motivation, academic and professional aspirations, leadership potential, and compatibility with the available mentor pool. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to participate in a brief online interview.
The programme will run from October to November 2026 and will include an opening session, three structured mentoring meetings, and a closing networking event. Participants selected for the programme will become members of the inaugural Future EU Leaders Cohort 2026.
Beyond its immediate educational objectives, the programme seeks to establish a sustainable and scalable pan-European mentorship network that will continue to support future generations of students interested in European affairs, public policy, diplomacy, and international leadership.
